What Makes Our Hummus Recipe So Tasty

Our hummus recipe takes only 3 minutes of cook time and serves about 15 people, so it’s ideal for parties and gatherings with a medium-sized crowd. It will be the perfect introductory meal for people who aren’t familiar with Mediterranean food. And, you can use it as a conversation starter as well!

Hummus Ingredients

  • 2 cans of chickpeas
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • Lemon juice (1-2 lemons)
  • 1/2 cup tahini
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • Salt
  • Water

The preparation of our hummus recipe actually starts the day before. Soak the chickpeas overnight, then drain and boil with some salt. You’ll need to roast the tahini and use a blender to powder the seeds. Then, add the chickpeas and all other ingredients, except for the lemon juice. Blend for a while, then add the lemon juice. Use the blender again until you get the wanted texture. Of course, try the hummus with pita bread to make sure it’s the right consistency.

Hummus and Pita – The Perfect Couple

Eating some bread with hummus simply makes sense. What better way to enjoy a dip than with some freshly baked pita? No worries, we’ll show you how to make it, and in no time, you’ll be enjoying pita with hummus.

You don’t have to limit yourself to hummus with pita bread. Try different options and see which one but you prefer. Tortilla chips and bread with hummus are also quite popular choices. However, this pita recipe will make you forget all about the other options.

Pita Bread Ingredients

  • 1 cup flour
  • 3 tablespoon yogurt
  • 2 tablespoon olive oil
  • Teaspoon of sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon of baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon of baking soda
  • Pinch of salt
  • Water

Though the cooking process isn’t too long, it will take you a few hours to start and finish preparing pita with hummus. Luckily, most of that time will be spent waiting for the dough to rise.

Start by adding the ingredients to a bowl. Put flour, yogurt, sugar, salt, baking soda, and powder in a container. Make sure it’s large enough to add water and knead the dough. Use a mixing spoon until the dough gets a bit thicker. Then it’s time to go to work. Apply some olive oil to your hands and knead again. After you’ve finished, cover the bowl and let it rest for 3 hours.

When the wait time passes, knead the dough once again for a few minutes. Make dough balls based on the size of the pita you wish to bake. Grab some flour and a rolling pin, and start making the pitas. Flatten the dough balls, and you’re ready for the final steps.

You can use a skillet or a baking pan to prepare the pitas, so go for whatever is most convenient for you at the time. The pitas take a few minutes to bake, so it won’t be difficult either way. We prepare ours on a medium flame in a skillet. Once the bread has puffed up, flip it to the other side and do the same. Put the cooked pitas in a kitchen towel to cool off for a bit. After a few minutes, cut them up and taste your hummus with pita bread.
