5 Best Summer Cocktails

June 22, 2020

If you can’t find a cool breeze anywhere this summer, refresh yourself with a nice cocktail drink. After all, what better time to cut yourself some slack than the warmer months when you can pair a cocktail with a relaxing day on a beach, by the pool, or your lounge area at home?

We have the best summer cocktail recipes for you.

1. Mojito

If you crave some minty freshness on a warm evening, Mojito will definitely be on the list of the most refreshing summer cocktails. A Collins glass on a smaller side is ideal for the most authentic look of this cocktail but if you don’t have one you can really make do with whatever type of glass you prefer. Squeeze ½ oz. of lime juice into the glass and muddle it with 1 tsp. or very fine sugar. The next step involves adding the mint leaves, which you should do by mushing them all around the inside of the glass. Proceed by filling up 2/3 of the glass with cracked ice and then pour around 2 oz. of white rum. Finally, top everything off with club soda/seltzer and a lime shell for the garnish.

2. Mai Tai

2020 has been a challenging year so far and your summer cocktail cravings might match the overall vibe. In cases like these, you can’t go wrong with Mai Tai. If you have a large Collins glass or a tiki mug, that’s great, but if not, use any glass you like, as mentioned before. Chill a cocktail shaker and pour cracked ice, 2 oz. of dark rum, 1 oz. of lime juice, ½ oz. of orange curacao and orgeat syrup, and 1/8 oz. of rock candy syrup in it. Yes, all at once. Then simply shake everything well and pour straight from the shaker into the glass. You can use a lime shell or mint leaf for garnish if you’d like.

3. Piña Colada

Piña Colada might as well be one of the most popular if not one of the best summer drinks when you just want to relax and unwind. Not to mention that it’s really simple to make on your own at home. You’ll need a blender for this one. Pour 2 ½ oz. of rum in first, and then add 3 oz. of unsweetened pineapple juice and 1 oz. of coconut cream. Toss in 5-6 ice cubes and blend everything on a high setting. Once blended, pour the drink into a tall glass. You can use pretty much anything you like for the garnish.

4. Rum Runner

Rum Runner has a bit more ingredients but it also provides a rich and spunky taste that’s perfect for the moody summer nights (and days, why not). Still, this particular cocktail is extremely easy to make at home. Essentially, all you need to do is put all of the ingredients into a cocktail shaker and shake well. You’ll need an equal 1 oz. amount of light and dark rum, banana and blackberry liqueur, and orange and pineapple juice, with just a splash of grenadine as well as ice. Once shaken well, strain your drink into a cocktail glass with fresh ice and garnish with the fruit of your choice.

5.Daiquiri

It seems that all the best summer cocktails have one thing in common – rum. It’s the same with the beloved Daiquiri. You’ll need 2 oz. of white rum, ½ tsp. of fine sugar, ½ oz. of lime juice, and ice. Start by squeezing the lime into the shaker. Then add the sugar by stirring it properly. Only then add the rum and cracked ice. Shake the mixture well and then strain it into a previously chilled glass.
