For instance, you can easily keep a batch of baklava at room temperature for a week without it going bad. As far as keeping it in the fridge goes, it’s safe to keep it for ten days or up to two weeks, but keep in mind that the crunchiness and texture, in general, are going to deteriorate with time. How to Make Baklava?

- Ingredients (baklava)
- 16 Oz walnuts
- ¼ teaspoon of ground cloves
- 1 ½ teaspoon of ground cinnamon
- 16 Oz of filo dough (thawed)
- ¼ teaspoon of salt
- 1 cup of butter (melted)
- Ingredients (syrup)
- 1 cup of sugar
- 1 cup of water
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 1 cup of honey (preferably high-quality)
- 1 strip orange peel
- 1 strip lemon peel
- Baklava Recipe Baking Instructions
Preheat your oven to 350F.
Place walnuts, salt, cloves, and cinnamon in a blender or food processor and chop everything together.
Put eight layers of filo dough into the pan, brushing each one with melted butter. Once you get to the eighth layer, add about a fifth of your walnut mixture and spread it evenly. Subsequently, add another five layers, brushing each one with butter, and then add another layer of nuts. A good rule of thumb to follow is to start with eight layers and end with eight layers while using five layers for every filling. Essentially, the sequence should look like 8-5-5-5-5-8.
Bake the baklava for about 50 minutes, and let it cool down for 15 minutes. While the baklava is baking, toss the syrup ingredients in a saucepan, bring it to a boil, and then reduce it to a simmer for about 5 minutes.
Once the baklava has cooled down, pour the hot syrup all over it and leave it for at least 8 hours.
